10.8.17 – The Pursuit that has no end

Have you ever started

something with no end?

I guess there are other examples, but I think this training scenario that is truly endless is rare. You see, normally you set out to do something for a specific end goal.

For example, we can hire a contractor and go through numerous evolutions of planning and execution with the end goal to build a home.

A person might change his/her lifestyle habits and set up a payment plan to pay off a credit card. Both the new home and the paid off credit card offer a clear, precise end goal.

But this journey we are on – This is different.

This experience at STONECUTTER might have big goals along the way, but I’d argue that there is no “end goal.”

Even if it seems like there is an end goal (albeit an ideal body weight, performance criteria, etc), when you get there I assure you that there’s still an UNLIMITED supply of progress to make. There’s always more skills to acquire, more strength to gain, and so on.

It’s endless.

You’re sitting somewhere on a spectrum that continues until infinity in the direction of health and fitness. Truly there is no end goal.

I’m not telling you that your goals are less important, but what I’m telling you is that this experience here can provide more than you know you could want.

Since there’s no limit or finish date to this progression, you might want to recalibrate what it means to maximize your potential.

I’ve been doing this for many years and 5 times in the last two days I’ve enjoyed watching athletes’ new PRs. Sometimes it’s fun to think about what the future will hold with equal parts hard work and patience. Keep at it. You’ve got much, much more than that headed your way!

The future holds more than just your goals. It is the road to that future where you find and enjoy your life along the way.
